Travel Diary: Coron Palawan

Palawan was voted number 1 best island in the world by readers of top travel magazines like Conde Nast Traveler and Travel and Leisure and I couldn't agree more. Pristine, white beaches, virgin islands scattered around the seas, stunning limestone cliffs, secret coves and lagoons, clear waters in different hues of blue, everything in Palawan is just perfection.

I've been frequenting Palawan, Coron in particular these past few years and its raw, natural beauty never fails to marvel and inspire me.

If you are planning a trip to Palawan, consider Coron as one of your stops. Here are a few tips and recommendations on what to see and where to stay in Coron:

What To See and Do:

Calauit Island
See wildlife in an island safari tour.

Siete Pecados
One of Coron's best snorkeling sites.

Maquinit Hot Springs
Natural hot springs pool for relaxing after a long day of sightseeing.

Kayangan Lake
Take a short trek to to the lake and you will be rewarded by
clear, turquoise waters surrounded by towering limestone cliffs.

Twin Lagoons
Dock your boat at the first lagoon and swim underneath
a rock to get to the second hidden lagoon.

Barracuda Lake
Layers of deep blue fresh water and salt water. Great spot for diving.

Pass Island
The best place to lie on a hammock underneath
a coconut tree while sipping fresh coconut juice.

Where To Stay:

If you feel like pampering yourself, book a stay at this private island luxury resort.

Hip, boutique hotel. A relaxing retreat from the city center.

Located in an enclave in Busuanga with an infinity pool overlooking the West Philippine Sea.

Travel Tips:
Wear light, comfortable clothes. Bikinis and coverups are definitely essentials!
Bring your snorkeling gear as there are many snorkeling sites with beautiful coral reefs.
Always wear mosquito repellent to keep those pests away. SPF too of course!
Island hopping usually takes a whole day so bring some snacks and water to keep yourself
hydrated but do not leave your trash lying anywhere. Keep the beaches clean.
Bring some cash for entrance fees to lagoons and beaches (P100-P200).

How To Get There:
60 minute plane ride via Cebu Pacific or PAL from Manila to Busuanga.
