Flow Yin Yang Yoga Retreat

No matter the problem, I’ve always thought that taking a break is always the best solution, so when I was asked to join the Flow yoga retreat in Flower Island in Palawan, I agreed immediately.
According to the Happiness project, money can’t buy happiness (I agree) but money can sure help you achieve it if you know where to spend it. I decided then that it will be on eating good food, traveling, surfing, and doing yoga.
So my three day break started with a 6-7 hour travel time to Flower Island, Palawan.
How to get there
1. From Manila fly to Puerto Princesa Airport, if you are taking a commercial plane. Chartered planes are also available just head over to their website to know more.
2. Then ride a bus/van going to TayTay port. This will take around 3 1/2 hours.

3. Lastly, you will be picked up by a speed boat going to Flower Island. The ride will take around 1 1/2 hours.

Nevermind the travel time, I promise you the place is worth it.

When we arrived, we were greeted by the friendly staff and this cute island dog named, Amber.

We stayed in a lovely bungalow hut with a hammock outside, windows open and our own bed with princess-style mosquito net.

Flow Yoga Retreat
We woke up early in the morning for our Vinyasa, and did Yin Yoga in the afternoon. Imagine doing your yoga outdoors where you can hear the waves crashing on the shore, the birds humming, and the wind rustling. You don’t need an ambient music and you don’t need to imagine either. On our last yoga session, we did our Vinyasa on a helipad overlooking the ocean.
During our down time we got to experience this:

In between, we did a 30min mini trekking up the watchtower where you can see the view of the surrounding islands. We swam, ate good food, and some even went snorkling.

My favorite parts will be looking at the island from the small mountain that we climbed, the sunset, eating the buttered Balmaine Bug with garlic, and getting a free acroyoga stretch from Paul Verchere.

During our last night, I also got a birthday surprise – homemade chocolate cake and  an awesome fire dance performance.  Belated Happy Birthday to me!

We ended the night chilling in this rustic bar.

We started the retreat by finding an item that we connect with and setting our intentions by channeling our energy to that item. We ended the retreat by leaving the item in the island. This is something I’ve learned in yoga – setting your intention and letting it go.

Thank you Flow Retreats for an awesome weekend. I  love the Moringa body scrub from Ysabel’s Daughter!

Thank you to the wonderful staff of Flower Island Resort. I’m grateful as well that I met a lot of new folks who share the same light and energy! Namaste!
